Magnetic Organisers: Organisation hacks right on your fridge

Magnetic Organisers: Organisation hacks right on your fridge

I really struggle with organisation. I struggle to remember appointments, keep track of what I need to do, and struggle with getting places on time. However, over the years I have found a few hacks and useful tips that have helped me to keep more organised and remember things that need to be remembered. One of the hacks is using a planner. I bought a beautiful planner, and I never looked back. I forced myself to keep track of dates, to do lists, and appointments. A second hack that was perhaps even more useful is using a magnetic fridge organisers. I knew when I saw some beautifully designed ones on our supplier catalogue that I just had to buy some, and I had to share them with all of our beautiful customers.

Today I want to share with you a few of the magnetic organiser hacks and tips that I found useful, coming from a disorganised person:

Magnetic Shopping List:

I have seen some people who always have a perfect shopping list when they are walking the isles of the supermarket. For some reason, this is just too hard for me. I can't just look in my cupboard and fridge and see what we need and put it on a list. I also can't remember what I need, nor can I keep a shopping list in the one place all week for me to add too. Enter: The magnetic shopping list for the fridge. This has become one of my biggest organisational hacks. Each time I run out of an item that I need, it gets added to the fridge magnetic shopping list. I can't lose it, because it's on the fridge, and I'm already in the kitchen when I realise what I'm missing or running low on. Having it right there and unable to go missing makes it much easier for me, because if I have to walk to another room to find my shopping list, I'm going to forget what I was doing, get distracted, or forget the item that I actually meant to put on the list. The magnetic fridge shopping list is the best solution for me as it is right there and minimises the chances of distractions. And the best part, when it comes time to doing the shopping, I just pull off the list and I have an idea of all of the items I need. Since starting this, I am close to becoming one of those people in the supermarket with the perfectly organised list! If you're like me, a disorganised person who wants to be more organised, a fridge magnetic shopping list is for you. Magnetic Meal Planner:

I love a good meal plan. I even recently had Chat GPT make a meal plan for me (the results were not great, but it was a good start!). I love searching through recipe books for nice things to make, and I also have a few staples that we make week after week. So I just had to get some of the magnetic fridge meal planners for this store. I loved them as soon as I saw them, and knew I had to get some for this store. As well as spots for writing your meals you want to eat each week, there's also space for adding shopping list items at the bottom, making it easy to do the jobs of meal planning and creating the shopping list at once. One of the great things about the magnetic meal planner is that it sits right on your fridge. It's right in your kitchen already when you need it, so every member of the family can look at the fridge and see what meals are planned for the week. This helps my family immensely when I work in the afternoons and my husband can see the meal plan and start preparing dinner for the family. It's convenience makes it an absolute necessity for disorganised people trying to be organised. Here is a link to ours.

Magnetic To-Do List:

I love a good to-do list. I have one going in my notebook all the time. I love to have everything I need to do added to my to-do list, and I enjoy the little dopamine hit each time I get to check something off it. While I usually love to do this on my notebook, I think the idea of having a to do list on the fridge is perhaps even better. The great thing about the magnetic fridge to-do list is that it is right there, on the fridge, in your kitchen, all the time. You can see it each time you go to get a snack, make a meal, or make a coffee. It's there on your fridge, and you can see all the jobs that need to be done. I love this because it can't be missed, can't be lost, and is visible all the time. I think this would be perfect for anyone who needs some help becoming more productive, who has a lot of jobs to complete, or who wants some more accountability. Also, this would be perfect for those who work from home and want to keep a running to do list where it's easily accessible and visible. Planners:

I know I said this blog would be all about the magnetic organisers, but I couldn't write a blog post about organisation without mentioning planners. As mentioned in the intro of this blog post, I love a planner. I have a planner that I have at my desk at all times, and I often also put it in my bag when I am going out on any work jobs or might need to refer to it. I keep track of all my upcoming appointments, to do list, events, parties, and anything that I need to remember. I write down my priorities on my to-do list each day, and keep track of things like; kids swimming lessons, school activities, kids birthday parties, appointments, and anything else that comes up. I love to have a big planner that has room for me to write multiple things in each day. If you're a big planner lover as well, we have a mix of non-dated planners and year planners for you to choose from. If you're lucky and reading this as soon as it is published (the 7th of May), I still have a few 2025 planners that I am giving away for free. I loved these so much that I bought more than I could sell, so I'm giving them away for free with every order. But if you miss out, don't worry I'll have more next year, plus I always have our undated planners which you can find here.

Can I keep it up?

I think the real challenge of using any organisational system is to see whether you can keep doing it for the long term. It might be easy to meal plan and keep a shopping list for a week or two, but I'm going to try to do it for the long term. I'm trying to keep meal planning even when I get busy, even when I have other things on, and even when I'm tired of cooking. So here is my experience with each of these hacks and how long I've kept them up for:

Magnetic meal planner: I have been successfully meal planning most of the time for about 6 months. I started getting serious about it after having a baby, and needing to become more organised. I love the convenience of it, and find my magnetic meal planner on the fridge helpful, as I only need to think about what to cook once a week, and I can start getting things ready on autopilot with the help of the magnetic meal planner. There are still days when I don't want to cook, days where I want take away, or days when I want something easy or something different from what I had planned, but most of the time, I'm able to stick to the meal plan. I think that's a win!

Magnetic shopping list: I love the idea of this. I love the idea of always having a list at the supermarket. For me, I am able to keep this up only part of the time. Somehow, the act of writing an item on the shopping list while I'm busy isn't something I can do very well. My strategy that seems to work best is to remember the items I need, and then write them on the shopping list at some point later in the day. When it comes time to go to the supermarket, I have my list with me around half of the time. The other half I am going by memory only which is hit and miss. So, as much as I really wanted the magnetic shopping list to work for me, I can't quite manage it all of the time. I think if you are someone who is more organised than me, you might find it easier to stick to and use it all the time.

Magnetic to-do list: This one I love. I love a to-do list, and i use my to-do list all the time. I find it especially helpful when I have a lot of things on and I feel overwhelmed by them all. The simple act of writing everything down seem to be enough for me to remove the overwhelm and start to feel more productive. Although I can't always get to the bottom of the to-do list, I absolutely love to keep one and love to cross everything off it.

So all of these magnetic planners have helped me to become more organised, even if I can't stick to it all the time.
